Blakehurst Dental – Tooth Fairy approved

We know that effective oral hygiene habits should begin as soon as your child’s first tooth erupts into their mouth. But any parent will tell you that staying on top of your child’s oral health is HARD. Brushing a toddler’s teeth can feel like wrestling a crocodile and encouraging a teenager to floss can feel like teaching a fish to climb a tree. Aside from the obvious benefits to a child’s oral health, we have found that when children start visiting the dentist from an early age, they become comfortable and confident in the dental environment.

Our team will help you and your family navigate the journey of childhood oral health. We make it fun and relaxed and ensure that a visit to the dentist isn’t something that arouses fear.

What to expect:

Initially, children’s dental examinations are relaxed and flexible, with many children choosing to be examined from the comfort of their parent’s lap.

As your child grows, our examinations become more thorough.

Our team will assess the development of the jaw and airways, as well as checking the health of the soft tissue and teeth.

As early as 8 years old, your child can benefit from x-rays to determine if any interceptive treatment required can be planned in conjunction with growth phases, allowing the adult teeth the best chance of moving into a favourable natural alignment.

Children’s special:

With the importance placed on developing excellent oral health habits from a young age, we believe that finances should not be a barrier to bringing your child to visit a dentist.

Because of this, all health fund members will receive gap free dental examinations, x-rays, cleaning and fluoride treatments up until the child is 18 years old, and for all tertiary students. If you are not part of a health-fund, your child will be seen at 50% of the total cost.
